Alarming Footage Reveals Point Police Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
One senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker received the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver subsequent to a road collision in the area in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
"Officer stabbed," the officer could be heard saying over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam recording made public by the force revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He collided with the policeman who lost balance and fell to the ground, before Sgt Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my throat now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his throat and more wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster received knife wounds.
Authorities stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his fellow officer's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders arrived.
The new honor follows subsequent to the three officers won departmental Courage Honors in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area Police Federation in April 2024.
They further earned a Area Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The efforts of each policeman eventually saved themselves and ensured no bystanders experienced any harm."
Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, as stated by the department.
